ABOUT
The way that I approach teaching students depends on where they are fundamentally when they begin. Some have little experience, some have a lot and some have no experience, and that is just fine! I've learned what works best for people depending on their level and can help them achieve surprisingly fast results in no time. I like to have a good balance of learning the technical skills, along with songs as soon as possible. This will form a good balance and can keep students progressing, engaged and always looking forward to what's next. I have learned over time that students learn best at their own pace. This is why I teach private one-on-one lessons. By doing this there is no rush or pressure in their own musical learning process.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO READ SHEET MUSIC? WILL WE LEARN HOW TO READ SHEET MUSIC?
No, you do not need to know how to read sheet music of any kind coming in. In fact, you can begin lessons as a complete beginner with no musical knowledge whatsoever! People ask me if we will ever learn how to read notation in lessons. My answer is no. I always explain my reasoning based on the fact that Music notation reading will come at the high school level or higher. My goal is to have students understand the fundamentals, basic music theory, and learning songs as soon as possible to keep them excited about learning! We will learn how to read TAB (or tablature) which is a form of reading numbers instead of notes and will get students playing songs much faster and easier!
HOW DO YOU EXCEPT PAYMENT AND WHEN IS PAYMENT DUE? HOW DOES THE CANCELATION PROCESS WORK?
I except most forms of payments. This includes Check, Cash, or Venmo. Payment is due on the first lesson day of each month. You can cancel at any time, but please give me a few weeks notice if you can. If you are canceling due to moving, or because transportation is an issue, please consider that I teach half of my students virtually and can do this with you as well.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD IS SICK? WHAT HAPPENS IF THE INSTRUCTOR IS SICK?
If your child is sick or something comes up where you have to cancel the day of or day prior, the student will most likely miss out on that weeks lesson. Your monthly payments reserve them that weekly time so it will continue on. You can always contact me and see if we can potentially schedule a makeup. If I am out sick and I contact you the day of or the day before our lesson I will either try and find a time later that week to make the lesson, or I will credit you the following month and deduct payment so it evens out.
WHAT IF MY CHILD IS OUT OF TOWN DURING CERTAIN TIMES OF THE YEAR? WHAT IF THE INSTRUCTOR IS OUT OF TOWN DURING CERTAIN TIMES OF THE YEAR?
If a student is going to be out of town, for example vacation, please let me know the month prior if you can. This will allow me to mark it down and simply have you deduct that week or weeks payment for that month. If I go out of town I will do the same. I will contact you and let you know the date I will miss the lesson and we will deduct payment from there.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW ARE TIME SPOTS ASSIGNED AND SAVED? WHAT HAPPENS TO NO CALL NO SHOWS?
Once we communicate and come to agreement on a day and time that works for you, that will be your saved weekly time. If you ever need to change your saved time spot please get in contact with me so we can work something out. If you happen to have a no call no show It will be treated as if the student were sick. They would unfortunately miss the lesson and the lesson will simply continue the following week.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO LESSONS EACH WEEK?
This is a great question, Please bring your guitar along with your tuner, capo and picks (capo isn't necessary). If you have an electric guitar there is no need to bring your amp and cable because I will provide one for you so that you don't have to bring so much with you. Please bring a folder each week to store your music pages that I will be giving to you during lessons.
WHAT IS THE BEST BEGINNER GUITAR TO PURCHASE? ACOUSTIC OR ELECTRIC?
This is probably the most asked question I receive. There are Pro's and Con's to both. I would say the Pro's for the acoustic guitar are that its the most simple right out of the box. Their us no amplifier needed or cable (which is a money saver). The Cons are that the acoustic guitar strings tend to be a bit rougher on the finger tips. For beginners this could be frustrating due to fact that it'll make your fingers a bit more sore than the electric guitar in the beginning. The Pro's for the eclectic guitar are that the strings are a bit thinner and easier on the finger tips. which for a beginner could make a huge difference. The Con's are that it requires an amplifier for the sound to project as well as a cable which would all in all cost a bit more money. If you ever have questions on what I recommend specifically, send me an email or message!
REASONS THE INSTRUCTOR MAY CONSIDER DISCONTINUATION OF LESSONS:
Reasons that I would consider discontinuation of lessons:

-Persistant Absences.
If there are three or more no call no shows I will consider discontinuation of lessons.

-Excessive requests for schedule spot changes

-Lack of progress due to insufficient or no practice over time.

-Uncooperative attitude or general dislike of lessons.
